Excitement builds for RHS Bridgewater at international Chelsea Flower Show
A glimpse of the new RHS Bridgewater garden coming to Salford in 2020 has been unveiled to the world at the Chelsea Flower Show (21 – 25 May) this week.
Award-winning landscape architect Tom Stuart-Smith, who created the masterplan for the new RHS Bridgewater garden, designed a dedicated garden to celebrate the planned space in the former grounds of Worsley New Hall.
The project is a result of collaboration between the owners of the Worsley site, Peel L&P alongside Salford City Council and the RHS.
The 154-acre RHS Bridgewater will become the fifth RHS garden, adjoining the Bridgewater Canal and is part of the RHS’ wider ten-year £100+ million investment programme to make the UK a greener and more beautiful place.
Louise Morrissey, Director of Land and Planning and Peel L&P said: “RHS Bridgewater is an important legacy project for us that secures the future and preserves the heritage of Worsley New Hall.
“We’re delighted that the vision for the garden took pride of place at the world-renowned RHS Chelsea Flower Show and when complete, we hope that RHS Bridgewater will be enjoyed by people of all ages for years to come.”
The steel structures and the plants from the RHS Chelsea garden will be installed at RHS Bridgewater at the end of the flower show.
