MediaCity reveals re-brand as it focuses on the future
MediaCity today launches a new brand identity and sets out its aspirations for the next decade to mark the 10th anniversary of the first broadcast to come from Salford’s creative, tech and digital destination.
The new brand, initially rolling out across its social platforms, reflects and celebrates the people and the destination’s sense of place and purpose which has evolved over the past 10 years as it continues to work with partners to deliver the plans to grow and evolve over the next decade and beyond.
Since revealing the vision to double in size in 2016, nearly 1000 new homes have been delivered as well as attracting a number of local, family -run independents including The General Store, Chapati Café and Seven Bro7hers to serve and support its growing 8,000 strong community together with an increasing number of visitors. In addition, the Co-op is set to launch its new concept store in November.
Managing Director Stephen Wild, said: “As we enter the latest phase of our expansion plans, MediaCity will be a hive of activity. We’ll be creating more new homes, more work and studio space as well as inspiring public spaces. Key to our expansion success will be working with our partners to deliver and accelerate our vision.”
Today, MediaCity’s thriving SME community is at the forefront of delivering the latest in high tech from Artificial Intelligence to eSports and gaming, and cyber security but Stephen is looking ahead to how MediaCity can support the fourth revolution.
Stephen adds: “As the fourth industrial revolution unfolds, the Internet Of Things (IoT) advances and computers have the capacity to connect and communicate with one another we will need the skills, talent and wide, open minds to keep apace with these technological advancements.
“The focus on skills and talent has driven many partnerships ranging from the University of Salford to Salford City College, and working with local schools to try to ensure opportunities are available to the local community who are so vital to the success of MediaCity.
“Our ongoing partnership with Host, together with the University of Salford are so important to ensure that we have the broadest possible infrastructure to make sure MediaCity continues to go from strength to strength.
With the Vodafone 5G infrastructure already in place MediaCity is committed to supporting life enhancing technological innovations through accelerator programmes focusing on the future of health, connected places and cyber security and to date has unlocked significant investment in MediaCity and beyond.

Since MediaCity’s first broadcast 10 years ago it has become synonymous with some of the nation’s favourite TV and radio shows including Coronation Street, The Voice, BBC Breakfast, A Question of Sport, CBBC, BBC Five Live and Blue Peter.
The demand for content throughout the pandemic was unprecedented and MediaCity’s dock10 cemented itself as a provider of world class production facilities to the broadcast industry. This year, it invested in a £1 million virtual gallery to remotely and safely broadcast thousands of hours of content including the Olympics from its virtual studio throughout the Summer.

With the BBC announcing this year that MediaCity will be the main base for the BBC’s digital and technology teams, BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 6 Music as well as becoming the home for new writing talent the creative content coming out of MediaCity will be boundless.
Stephen added: “The future of MedaCity is incredibly exciting which will unlock many exciting opportunities for the people of Salford and beyond.
