Northstone and Peel L&P help spread Christmas cheer in Bolton
Northstone and Peel L&P have teamed up with Bolton Council and local businesses to help spread some well-deserved Christmas cheer across the town.
While it may not be Christmas as normal this year, Bolton Council’s Winter Festival is packed with virtual activities to help illuminate the dark nights and add some sparkle to Bolton this December.
Northstone and its parent company Peel L&P has donated to the council to help run this festive programme to support local businesses and keep the magic of Christmas alive for families and residents.
This includes a donation to Bolton Lions’ annual Christmas toy appeal which has raised close to £40,000 this year.
Winter Festival activities include virtual zoom chats with Father Christmas so children still get chance to see him this year and virtual festive stories with a little help from some Christmas Elves.
Bolton’s Sleeping Beauty panto will also move online this year so families can still enjoy it from the comfort of their own homes, along with a whole host of other virtual craft making sessions and a Big Bolton Singalong.
The Winter Festival has also helped local traders to move their businesses online in time for Christmas shopping.
A Bolton Council spokesperson said: “During these very difficult times, people in Bolton have really pulled together.
“Our town is full of local heroes who have come together to make a real difference to people’s lives and we thank them for their efforts in keeping us all safe
“With the support of our partners across the borough we are helping light up our towns and raise our spirits as part of the Virtual Winter Festival.”
Homebuilder Northstone has plans to build energy-efficient homes across Bolton suitable for families, first-time buyers, downsizers and those with affordable housing needs.
It is already on site at its first development of 150 homes called Silkash in Westhoughton with some residents due to move in this month.
Phil Wilson, Peel L&P’s Executive Director for Land, Communities and Homebuilding added: “As well as building homes to help Bolton meet its housing shortage, we want to build strong communities where local people can thrive for generations to come.
“We’re committed to investing in the community and we’re pleased to be able to sponsor Bolton’s Winter Festival to help families, residents and local businesses this Christmas.”
Northstone and Peel L&P have also sponsored Bolton Lads’ & Girls’ Club to support children and young people’s mental health during the coronavirus pandemic.
Contractors Eurogold and BS Entwistle who are working on the Silkash development have made charitable contributions to Northstone this Christmas which the homebuilder will donate to Bolton’s food bank collector Urban Outreach Bolton to help support those who need it most.
