Peel L&P scoops two major awards at Insider’s 2021 Liverpool City Region Property Awards
The ceremony, held at the iconic Titanic Hotel on the evening of September 1st, recognised those who have delivered outstanding results and shone a light on the developers, projects and deals that have helped shape the Liverpool City Region.
Regeneration business Peel L&P won both ‘Developer of the Year’ and the ‘Future Ambition Award’ at last night’s event.
The Developer of the Year award recognised the work that has continued across Liverpool Waters, Wirral Waters and the Mersey Heat district heat network (Peel NRE), with all three projects reaching major milestones for the business.
Onsite at Liverpool Waters plans were submitted and approved for the regeneration of Bramley-Moore Dock which will be home to Everton Football Club’s state-of-the-art 52,888-capacity stadium, The Lexington also hit an impressive milestone by topping out in August 2020 – adding to Liverpool’s iconic skyline and five new tenants took space onsite, despite the current challenging period.
Jesse Hartley Way, a new link road connecting the new Isle of Man Ferry Terminal (currently onsite) was completed in October 2020 on behalf of Liverpool City Council and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority who funded the scheme. During the period around 240 homes also came to market with the Regenda / Peel L&P private rent scheme, Plaza 1821, and Romal Capital’s Park Central having completed April and June 2020 respectively.
Peel NRE’s Mersey Heat district heat network will provide low carbon heat and hot water to more than 9,000 homes and 4 million sq ft of commercial space at Peel L&P’s Liverpool Waters development and other nearby buildings.
More than 2.8km of pipework has already been installed so buildings at Liverpool Waters’ Princes Dock and 540 apartments at Tobacco Warehouse at Stanley Docks are ‘connection ready’. The project reached another key milestone in February by securing planning consent for an energy centre housing the heat generating equipment, with water source heat pumps to serve the network.
On the Wirral Waters site, the sheer scale and impact of the regeneration scheme, coupled with the progress made over the last two years, earnt the team additional recognition through the Future Ambition Award. This award, voted on by peers on the industry, recognises the project that will have the greatest transformational impact.
At Wirral Waters the process of regeneration has continued to move forward, and many milestones have been reached. Included in the achievements are new streetscapes competed, work on new homes across Northbank started and Hythe, a 25,000 sq ft highly sustainable and flexible business hub, is now onsite.
