Gloucester Quays is reporting a record breaking summer of events including huge success at its annual food festival, which saw footfall rise by more than 40% compared to the same weekend last year.
The three-day food festival featured live cooking shows from Candice Brown, The Fabulous Baker Brothers and Stefan Gates, attracting families and foodies from far and wide. Sales were up by 16%, compared with the same weekend last year, with some of the top performers including Ted Baker, Lindt, Asics/Onitsuka Tiger, The North Face and White Stuff.
For the first time, the outlet ran its popular beach themed event throughout the whole summer holidays, with children’s football, netball and rugby coaching and appearances from the Gloucester Rugby team.
Matthew Bird, Centre Manager at Gloucester Quays, said: “Our award-winning events have been voted among the UK’s top attractions by Visit England and the Mail on Sunday and increase in numbers every year. It’s these lively imaginative creations which breathe life into our venues and these outstanding results are testament to our ethos of placing customers at the heart of everything we do.
“This year, due to their popularity, we’ve extended all of our seasonal events to run for longer periods. We’re now gearing up for the biggest event of our calendar, our Victorian Christmas Market, which sees the venue transformed with real open-air ice rink and authentic Victorian markets.
“With events like these, it’s no surprise that we’re now widely recognised for hosting the largest free event in the South West and drawing more than six million visitors each year.”
This year the much-loved Victorian Christmas Market will return from 16 November for an extended period, meaning even more time for visitors to browse the decorated chalets, unique gifts, and seasonal food and drink.
A record number of premium new brands have joined Gloucester Quays in the last six months, including the most recent signing of Jack Wills and Ted Baker, which are among the world’s leading lifestyle brands. Other brands to join include Levi’s, Skechers, Original Penguin, Phase Eight, H Samuel, Lindt, plus new restaurants including the award-winning Cote Brasserie.
