Staff from Peel L&P took on the famous national 24-hour Three Peaks Challenge to raise over £7,500 for Once Upon A Smile and The Christie charity.
Taking on the gruelling hike up Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdown on 6th and 7th July 2019, the 14-strong team of mountaineers finished in 23 hours and 50 minutes – just 10 minutes to spare!
John Peter Whittaker, Assistant Director of Corporate Development for Peel Group said: “We were delighted at completing the national Three Peaks Challenge and somewhat relieved in completing it just under the 24hr target, there was a great team spirit throughout and I would like to thank everyone who took part and everyone who supported our expedition through generous donations.
“We are proud to support our chosen charities, Once Upon a Smile and The Christie for the invaluable work they do for the people across Manchester and the North West.”
Angela Griffiths, Fundraiser from Once Upon A Smile said: “We’re delighted that Peel L&P have raised such an incredible amount by taking on the Three Peaks. The event is such a challenge and we were delighted to follow the progress of the participants on social media. We’re proud and grateful to all of those who took part and raised funds for Once Upon a Smile. The money raised will enable us to continue supporting bereaved families at their time of need.”
Once Upon a Smile provide practical and emotional support to bereaved families to enable them to adjust to a new life without their loved one. The Peel L&P team would also like to say a special thank you to Chris and Scott at Active Mountaineering for their support throughout the event.
