Following the successful opening of the new flagship Next store at Straiton Retail Park in Scotland, Peel Retail Parks has signed two new deals with sofa specialists, Fabb Sofas and ScS Sofas.
New furniture chain Fabb Sofas, launched by DFS founder Lord Kirkham, is opening one of its first UK stores at Straiton Retail Park. The company has signed a 10 year lease for a 1,858 sq.m. (20,000 sq.ft.) unit, and is due to open early 2017.
It follows the recent openings of Tapi Carpets & Floors, Outfit, Next and Nandos, further enhancing the retail offerings and mix at Straiton Retail Park.
Mark Whittaker, Group Property Director at Peel Land and Property, who own and manage Straiton Retail Park, said: "We're delighted to be one of the first retail parks to welcome Fabb Sofas as they roll out their new stores in the UK.
"The latest lettings at Straiton are fantastic news and bring more investment and jobs to Straiton Retail Park. Peel Retail Parks has been investing significant capital sums into Straiton Retail Park over the last few years and it's great to see it becoming such a strong success story for our Peel Retail Parks business."
In addition, popular sofa chain ScS has signed a new 10 year lease at Straiton for a 705 sq.m. (7,588 sq.ft.) unit. The store has recently opened for trade.
Mark added: "This is major retail destination in Edinburgh which is going from strength to strength and continuing to grow at a rapid rate. We have an annual footfall of more than 6million at Straiton.
"These are strong brands and, added to our existing "home" retailers, Next, Harveys, Tapi, Carpet Right and Sofology, strengthen our overall homes and furnishing offering and give more reason to shop at Straiton to the local 1.1m catchment."
"Benefiting from its strategic central position on the City of Edinburgh bypass, with retailers reporting exceptional like-for-like sales growth, we feel Straiton is perfectly placed to position itself firmly in the upper tier of the UK retail hierarchy, bringing significant economic benefits to the wider Edinburgh area. We will now continue the exceptional momentum we have generated and focus on bringing more exciting retail and leisure providers to the park, developing our unbuilt planning consent and delivering against our business plan."
