Double celebrations for homebuilder Northstone with first anniversary and planning approval for first scheme

Northern-based homebuilder and place maker Northstone is celebrating planning approval to complete its first housing development of 150 homes in Bolton as it marks one year in business this month.

Northstone, part of Peel L&P, has today (17 October 2019) received planning permission for 131 homes at Roscoe’s Farm in Westhoughton where it will build a total of 150 homes. The first 19 homes were approved by Bolton Council earlier in July.

The Bolton Road development will provide a mix of highly energy efficient two, three and four-bed homes to meet local housing needs and generate 160 construction jobs to support the local economy.

It would also bring wider benefits for the town through increased local contributions which could be put towards improving education, community and health facilities as well as affordable housing.

Northstone, which launched in October 2018, aims to create exceptional homes, stylish environments and places for modern living for future generations.

Homes are led by great design and embrace smart living with options to switch living and kitchen/dining areas to the front or back of the house and automate heating and electricity.

Outside, pedestrian-led streets will help to reduce traffic speeds for children to play more safely while pocket parks and mature landscaping throughout the development will create a sense of community.

Northstone is expected to start on site in Westhoughton next month with some homes available to purchase from spring 2020.

Phil Wilson, Northstone’s Chief Executive said: “We set out a year ago, to offer more than a traditional housebuilder and we have a clear vision for our homes to be led by thoughtful, quality design and sustainability to help create exceptional places, inside and out.

“We’re really pleased that Bolton Council has recognised this vision as well as the local need for these homes and this planning consent couldn’t be better timed as we celebrate a year in business this month.

“We’re excited to bring a new-style home to the market and we hope Bolton is just the first of many sites across the north west for Northstone.”
